  1. The 10th edition stated the following about software referencing: “Software need not be cited in the reference list if it is mentioned only in passing or is available without charge via the internet (eg, shareware or freeware).”

    In the 11th edition, the language has changed to: “Software need not always be cited in the reference list; for example, it may be cited in the text if it is mentioned in the Statistical Analysis subsection of the Methods section.”

    Does this mean that software mentioned in an article, if not used for statistical analysis, needs referenced? An example would be reference to things like Blackboard learning management systems, Qualtrics survey software, etc.

  2. I’m unclear on AMA’s recommendation on alphabetizing glossaries and indices. Should they be sorted word-by-word or letter-by-letter?
